Description
Description

170 kV Dry-Type Composite Wall Bushing

NJREC 170 kV wall bushings carry high-voltage conductors through grounded walls or partitions with air on both sides. The dry-type FCRG composite configuration uses a capacitive insulation core and silicone rubber external housing. In the IEC 60137:2017 series, its equipment highest voltage (Um) is 170 kV and its maximum rated current is 3150 A.

Applications

Substation and GIS Building Walls

The bushing provides an insulated air-to-air passage where a conductor crosses a substation fire wall, GIS building wall or high-voltage equipment-room partition. The indoor and outdoor housing lengths are selected for the actual installation.

Power Plants and Renewable Energy Stations

Wall feedthroughs can connect air-insulated circuits across building boundaries at generation and step-up substations. For exposed outdoor ends, the housing profile and creepage distance should reflect the site's pollution conditions.

Industrial Power Installations

The wall bushing can also be considered where an industrial high-voltage conductor crosses a grounded barrier. Specify the ambient conditions, wall opening, mounting flange and conductor connections for the selected installation.

Why Choose NJREC?

NJREC offers a dry composite wall bushing configuration for the 170 kV IEC voltage class. The specified insulation ratings, conductor connections, flange and external insulation can be reviewed together so the unit suits its wall opening and installation environment.

For coastal or industrial sites, the external insulation and creepage distance can be selected with reference to the site's pollution severity and the IEC TS 60815 guidance for polymer insulators. For replacement work, NJREC can compare the existing dimensions with the proposed configuration.

FAQ

What are the IEC electrical ratings?

The 170 kV IEC column lists 50/60 Hz, 325 kV for the 1-minute dry power frequency withstand voltage, 750 kV lightning impulse withstand voltage (BIL) and a maximum rated current of 3150 A.

Can the composite housing be used near the coast?

The housing and creepage distance should be selected for the site's pollution severity. The outdoor polymer insulation can be assessed using IEC TS 60815-1 and IEC TS 60815-3.

Is a test tap or integrated CT included?

These features depend on the selected model and project specification. Confirm the test terminal or CT requirements before finalizing the configuration.

How does it differ from a GIS outlet bushing?

This wall bushing crosses a grounded wall with air on both sides. A GIS outlet bushing is mounted on a GIS enclosure and has different connection media and mounting interfaces; the two require separate designs.
